Is a climbing frame really an investment?

Here at Gorilla Climbing Frames UK, we understand that a climbing frame is a considered purchase. Something that will provide years of entertainment and fun as your family grows. But there are also many reasons as to why purchasing a climbing frame for your family is an investment. Our climbing frames are designed for children aged 3 years to 10 years, so for families with young and growing children, we understand that any frame will be used for years to come.

Climbing frames are beneficial for both physical and creative play. This really does enhance their value and investment status.

Physical Play Investment

Playing outside on a climbing frame nurtures long-term benefits for children’s physical development. Encouraging active play and promoting skills like coordination and problem-solving, while also adding value to their play space, making it a worthwhile purchase over time. We have already written about the benefits of outdoor play and how child development is supported by outdoor play on a climbing frame. Children become aware of limits, boundaries and challenges within their play. When children are used to playing outdoors, it can build their confidence in their surroundings and abilities.

Creative Play Investment

Creative and emotional play assists with expression, understanding and problem solving. Children can hypothesise about the outcomes of their play creations in scenarios such as ‘cooking’ and ‘baking’. Children can enjoy messy play outdoors in and around the climbing frame as the lower playhouse can act as a play kitchen. Mud kitchen play is enormous fun and hugely beneficial too!

Also consider resale value. It can be resold, once the children have grown out of the frame. Often the second hand climbing frame market can see a return of around 50% of the purchase value after 3-5 years (according to Ebay).  This is dependant on condition. A worthwhile consideration for resale and recouping some cash back!
