Can my Climbing Frame be installed on grass?
In short, the answer is 100% yes! All of our wooden climbing frames have been specifically designed to be installed on to grass. The climbing frames all come with ground anchors, as standard, to provide security and stability to the frame.

Most customers assemble their frame on to grass, in their garden. The impact absorption of grass depends on the soil, and how compact it is. According to ROSPA, grass as an impact absorbing safety surfacing, is considered more than enough for playground surfaces at home. ROSPA says that for fall heights under 1500mm (1.5m) grass is a suitable material for use under play equipment.
If continued scuffing takes place or it is a very high traffic area causing soil compaction, then alternative surfacing could potentially be considered. Customers may look at types of artificial surfacing.
Cost
Cost can have a huge impact on a build. As most people already have lawns in their garden it means the surface is already there. No new cost outlay. Comparatively with other surfaces, buying seed isn’t expensive. Maintenance is important and if you’re expecting a lot of use from a frame then a little care may be required. All that may be needed is likely a small quantity of seeds to replant an area. Often left to its own devices, grass tends to grow back on its own.

Any Drawbacks
One possibility for areas that are subject to continued scuffing is rubber matting. Because that allows grass to grow through it. Also protecting roots and stopping the area from going bare, compacting and creating a hard area. This matting can be easily fitted with growth coming through in a couple of weeks in season dependent on grass type and conditions.
All our climbing frames come with pdf step by step instruction manuals to complete the build. Hardware and ground anchors as standard. Plus our customer service team are on hand to assist with any build queries, via live chat or email.
